Landmark Legal Case Against PA
Midwife
The Pennsylvania Board of Medicine has ordered Lancaster County
midwife Diane Goslin, to cease and desist from the practice of
midwifery. She has not been accused of endangering any mother or
baby. The Board of Medicine merely claims that anyone except a CNM
or MD who attends a birth is in violation of the law.
This case has revealed the intention of the Board of Medicine to
prosecute non-nurse midwives in Pennsylvania. If they are
successful, thousands of PA women, many of whom have no
medical insurance, will be deprived of their freedom to choose
homebirth with the attendant of their choice.
Mrs. Goslin has accrued more than $100,000 in legal fees in her fight
to keep midwives legal in Pennsylvania.
Won't you help her today? Diane has pursued this legal battle
because she believes that the Board of Medicine is wrong in its
decision to attack Certified Professional Midwives who have
demonstrated that they have the skill and experience necessary to
safely attend women in childbirth.
If you have benefited from the support of a skilled midwife, we appeal to
you now to give a little back. Please share your love and support at
this time.
Win or lose, this is Diane's last appeal. Please show your support for
midwifery and for personal freedom by responding today with a
generous donation! Whether you can give $100, $75, or only $25, we
deeply appreciate it!
And we thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!
